Sony released the playstation remote play app for IOS, this isn’t new, Windows, Mac OS, and android (sorta sony phones only) has had this feature for awhile. But now. We can play PS4 games on an iphone FOR FREE. Today, I’ll show you how. The first things you need is an ios device, a playstation 4, an internet connection, a ps4 controller, and a ps4 game. Simple enough. IF you didn’t have those, then maybe you’re watching the wrong video. From there you need to download the remote play app for iOS I’ll have the link down below, and sign into the app. Make sure your PS4 is updated to software version 6.5 or else it won’t work. I was too excited and couldn’t get it to work for that very reason. For best results make sure your ps4 is using an ethernet connection to your router. But wifi works. I use it that way all the time. Boot up your PS4. Log into that too by the way. Then follow the directions on your phone. Either it will connect automatically or you’ll have to go into settings then remote play on your PS4 to enter a code into your phone. From there, the app should work. Now you can play all your ps4 games on your iphone or ipad. There are however, some downsides, PS4s and PS4 slims are limited to 720p resolution only, the pros can do 1080p and the quality of remote play is highly dependent on your internet speed. If it’s slow, you won’t be playing any games in HD that’s for sure. If you’re using your phone’s data plan then be careful, this is practically like watching a stream on twitch, or youtube, and your data will be draining as if you’re watching a video, so I’d highly recommend only using this on wifi unless you desperately need to get on your ps4 for some reason. To activate remote play, you always have to make sure your ps4 is on, or in sleep mode and the game you want to play is in the system, no one wants to walk out of bed to go change the game disk. Real time games like overwatch may have too much lag, so save your team the stress, don’t play a match like this. I think the app is better for something like RPGs or story based games without too much real time action. So basically Persona 5. Portrait mode works best on an ipad because of the screen real estate, iphones just got this tiny box. Lastly, as of release, you can’t use a ps4 controller with the ios remote play app, which is a bit of a bummer, hopefully they get that in some day. Overall, I hope this video helped you guys get started, it’s still brand new, I haven’t tested everything yet, and just wanted to show everyone how to get started.
